Frequently Asked Questions

Is there car parking available?

There are a number of spare parking spaces on our private drive which we would encourage you to use. Feel free to block others in when parking but please park to use the space most effectively. The Studio is in a residential area and using our drive means less impact on our neighbours. Should you need to park on the road, then please try to use the large verges at the cross road with Cross Way in order to keep cars to a minimum outside our neighbours' houses.

Are you trained and insured to work with pregnant women?

Yes. Ginette has spent a considerable amount of time ensuring that her education and knowledge is suitable for this very special group of ladies. You can see her accreditations here. She is also fully insured and the Initial Consultation is part of that insurance cover to ensure she is entirely aware of any medical needs each individual client may have. Ginette also undertakes a thorough health and safety check of The Studio as part of our ongoing commitment to safety. You are welcome to view or discuss insurance and accreditations if you wish. Please feel free to contact us to do so.

Are you clear to work with both children and adults if I bring my child?

Yes. I have been cleared by the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service - formerly CRB) with a certificate to confirm I have no convictions for disclosure dated March 2016. I am happy for this to be viewed at any time by any prospective client.

Why should I train differently when pregnant and is it safe to do so?

Yes, it is perfectly safe to do so but our bodies go through a number changes when we become pregnant or have just given birth. Please visit the Home page for a brief description and, of course, Ginette will be happy to answer questions personally if you contact us. For this reason, we would always advise you train with a pregnancy-accredited personal trainer or specialist once you have found out you are pregnant.

It's been a number of years since I gave birth. Can I still benefit from your services?

Absolutely! There are many women who do not get the right help after giving birth and so still have problems a number of years later. I have worked with ladies who are a number of years post-birth who have had pregnancy related issues but who are benefiting from the correct training even now. Please feel free to contact us to discuss any personal requirements.

I can't make your class times. What could I do?

We understand that the times of the classes won't work for everyone. It may be worth you considering Personal Training twice a month instead, as the cost difference is not that great and you will benefit from an even greater personalised service.

Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Why do you not operate drop-in classes?

It is very important for us to be able to offer the most personalised training for everyone, whether you are a Personal Training client or a Group Class client. It would be exceptionally difficult for us to offer this unique personalisation if we did not know that someone was about to drop-in to the class. We feel this would not benefit the client themselves or the other clients in the class.

How do I pay for Group Classes?

Group classes are run and billed on a termly schedule. Class term dates are listed under the Group Classes Pricing section of the website. Terms usually run for 5, 6 or 7 weeks depending on the number of weeks within that half term and you will be billed via email a couple of weeks before that group of classes begins. It would be preferable to us if you could settle the invoice via electronic banking as per the details on your invoice however we do accept debit and credit cards.

What happens if I can't make a Group Class? Can I get a refund or credit against my next invoice?

We appreciate that life sometimes gets in the way and for whatever reason you may not be able to attend a class one week.

If given notice, we will do our best to offer the option of attending the class at another time that week but this may not always be possible due to demand in other classes. Unfortunately, due to the course-like structure of the terms and the fact that every class is specifically tailored for all the people within it, we are unable to offer credit for missed classes even if notice is given. This method of operation is common when joining many educational courses in a group setting and we would advise clients to do all they can to ensure they can attend all classes for the next term.

A refund of a term's fees may be offered in exceptional circumstances if you cannot continue with the course due to medical reasons or other exceptional personal circumstances.

Can I bring my baby to Group Classes?

Little ones are welcome in The Studio and we have a safe and clean matted and penned area for them to discover and play with toys. We do not operate a dedicated creche service so please remember that they remain your responsibility at all times during the session. However, Ginette has been known to teach a class with a baby sling attatched to her to help!

How do I pay for Personal Training?

Personal Training is billed in advance for the coming calendar month. For example, you will receive an invoice mid-February for all your Personal Training sessions due in March.

Can I pay in cash on the day?

I am afraid we only bill in advance unless Ginette is running an ad-hoc holiday class. In that instance we do accept cash or we have card facilities.

Is it unusual to pay for an Initial Consultation?

Not at all. Unlike most PTs, working with pregnant mums requires a very specialist knowledge, and far more time in creating suitable programmes for each individual. Consequently, Ginette needs to spend time with each client before they train to ensure it is safe for you to do so. You will also be given a considerable amount of knowledge about how to train safely and how the exercises will benefit you. The Initial Consultation can take up to an hour and a half and then Ginette needs to spend further time ensuring programmes are suitable. Hopefully you can appreciate this is a substantial amount of extra time and work, but is done for each client's benefit and welfare.

What happens if I need to cancel a Personal Training session?

We would ask that you give us as much notice as possible please, preferably 24 hours. We will then attempt to reschedule an extra session within the next two weeks so you benefit from all your paid classes within that calendar month. If that happens at the end of the month, we will carry over the session into the following calendar month.

What if I am off on holiday?

For Personal Training clients, please advise us prior to being billed for the month you are away. Obviously we don't want to charge you for sessions whilst you are away!

For Group Classes, please see the section above on not attending a class. We would obviously advise that you check your calendar to ensure you can make as many sessions as possible before booking on. We only run group classes to term times to help with holiday periods with families.

Will you do any classes in the longer holidays?

If there is enough demand for the classes, Ginette will be happy to run ad-hoc classes so please contact us to ask for extra sessions. If not, why not consider a couple of Personal Training sessions to supplement the classes in the holidays?

How far will you travel for Personal Training? I'm not local!

Please contact us if you would like to discuss how far away you are. As a rule, all of Ginette's classes and sessions take place in The Studio but Ginette will travel in certain circumstances. These sessions away from The Studio incur extra cost. Please see the Personal Training Pricing page for more details.
